Job Summary
The University of West Florida Libraries seeks an Assistant Faculty Librarian (position #108840) to manage the Emerald Coast Library. Responsibilities of this position include day-to-day management and supervision of personnel, resources, services, budget, facilities, and equipment. This position also serves as the liaison with University of West Florida (UWF) and Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) administration, faculty, and students on the Emerald Coast Campus, as well as with library and other appropriate staff on the parent campuses. Position reports to the Dean of Libraries. This is a full time twelve-month non-tenure earning position with faculty rank and status.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in library science, or the equivalent, from an ALA-accredited institution and appropriate experience as a professional librarian consistent with university guidelines.
Position Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited institution in library science
- 3-5 years supervising experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Appropriate professional, academic library experience consistent with university guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in reference service and/or collection development
- Background in science (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering)
- Professional, academic library experience
Essential Functions / Job Duties
• Supervision and management of the staff and operations of the Emerald Coast Library
• Oversight responsibility for completion of annual Emerald Coast Library objectives
• Coordinating and/or providing library instruction to UWF and NWFSC students on the Emerald Coast Campus
• Developing and promoting Information Literacy initiatives
• Evaluating information resource needs in support of UWF programs offered at the Emerald Coast Campus and making appropriate recommendations to meet immediate and long-term needs
• Responsible for the selection, acquisition, management, weeding, and development of library materials, in all formats, for assigned subject areas
• Working with other UWF Libraries personnel and FLVC to ensure the ILS supports optimal discovery and fulfillment of library resources for Emerald Coast Library users and staff
• Providing, facilitating and/or supporting current awareness and training for Emerald Coast Library staff
• Maintaining the content of and requesting updates to the Emerald Coast Library section of the library website
• Keeping library administration and other librarians informed of developments that may affect areas of responsibility
• Maintaining library webpages related to the assigned areas of responsibility
• Submitting annual and other reports as requested
• Completing other duties as assigned - (Essential)
