AAUW (the American Association of University Women) awards International Fellowships for full-time study or research in the United States to women who are not United States citizens or permanent residents. Both graduate and postgraduate studies at accredited institutions are supported.

Eligibility Requirements

• Have citizenship in a country other than the U.S.
• Hold an academic degree (earned in the U.S. or abroad) equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree completed by the application deadline. 
• Intend to devote themselves full-time to the proposed academic plan during the fellowship year.
• Intend to return to their home country to pursue a professional career upon completion of their studies. 
• Must demonstrate English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS scores may be required).

Benefits and Coverage

AAUW Fellowship provide the recipients with below benefits:

Award Amounts:

• Master’s/first professional degree: $20,000
• Doctoral: $25,000
• Postdoctoral: $50,000

International Fellowship funds are available for:

• Educational expenses.
• Living expenses.
• Dependent child care.
• Travel to professional meetings, conferences, or seminars, as long as it does not exceed 10 percent of the fellowship.

Application Process

You’ll need the following documents for your application:

• Academic Transcripts: Official transcripts from all institutions you’ve attended.
• Proof of Degree: Certificate(s) showing you’ve earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree.
• Recommendation Letters: Three letters of recommendation from professors or professional supervisors.
• English Proficiency Proof: TOEFL or IELTS scores (if applicable).
• Admission Proof: A letter of admission or enrollment from a U.S. university (you can submit this later if pending at the time of application).
• Statement of Intent: A detailed essay describing your career goals, how your studies align with the AAUW mission, and your plan to use your education to benefit your home country.

2. Create an Account

• Click on the “Apply” button to access the application portal.
• Create an account with your email address.

3. Complete the Online Application

• Log in to the application portal.
• Fill out all required fields, including personal information, academic background, and financial details.
• Upload the required documents (PDF format preferred).
• Double-check your responses for accuracy and completeness.

4. Submit Your Application

• Pay the application fee (approximately $35 USD).
• Submit the application before the deadline (November 15 annually).
• You will receive a confirmation email after submission.
